Clock Repair Diagnosis
Diagnosis at J.F.K. Clock Repair
When you bring your clock to JFK, if the cause of the problem is not immediately obvious to me, I will examine the clock and bench test it in the shop, in order to diagnose the cause(s) of its improper (or its “non”) operation. Any problems (or potential problems) within your clock’s mechanism will be identified. When the in-shop exam is complete, I will suggest to you items that could be addressed for improved operation, or that should (or must) be corrected, for proper operation.
For an in-home appointment (a “house call”) for grandfather or “tall” clocks, I will start the clock (or attempt to start it), and correct any minor problems that are evident to me during the diagnosis and that can be repaired on-site. Any problem(s) that still prevent proper operation will be identified, and a repair suggestion made to you.
About JFK’s Diagnostics Background
My father is an expert in identifying, isolating, and diagnosing problems in complex mechanical (and in some cases, electrical) devices. He can diagnose problems in mechanical and quartz wristwatches, antique pocketwatches, automobiles, scientific instruments, analog gauges, clocks, electrical devices, and the like.
I never desired familiarity with (nor pursued expertise in) the large breadth and variety of mechanisms and devices that my father did. However, in my area of focus…. mechanical clocks…. my diagnostics skills equal, if not exceed, those of my father.
I welcome your inquiry.
